Project Overview

Joe Wagner Group was engaged as Principal Contractor by Queensland Rail to deliver formation upgrades along 3.2km of the Blaxland rail corridor. The works were delivered under a 96-hour possession, with extensive preparation completed prior to the shutdown.

Project Scope

• Cut and strip rail from the existing line
• Remove and replace formation and ballast
• Remove and replace existing sleepers (QR scope)
• Deliver site preparation for delivery of sleepers and rail
• Manage rail shutdown and logistics under 24-hour schedule
• Flood with ballast and reinstate site conditions post-works

Project Outcomes / Highlights

• Maintained full program in severe weather and soft ground conditions using bog mats
• 24-hour operations with zero disruptions to adjoining services
• Delivered under budget and with no safety incidents
• Enabled long-term serviceability and reliability of the corridor
