Joe Wagner Group was engaged to replace deteriorating culverts on Queensland Rail’s Western Line, mitigating flood risk through swift, high-quality infrastructure renewal.

Project Scope

• Track removal and subgrade excavation
• Demolition and disposal of existing concrete culverts
• Install 92 precast RCBC components with grouting and sealing
• Place and compact rock scour protection (~180 tonnes)
• Reinstate railway track, ballast tamping and surface grading
• Deliver works under staged 16-hour shifts in extreme heat

Project Outcomes / Highlights

• Zero LTIs and full delivery in adverse weather
• 800,000L of water diverted using temporary upstream cut-off drain
• Praised by QR for innovation and safety performance
• Included Indigenous community engagement for cultural compliance
